In my opinion, many organizations fail to believe that “success will arise from educated risks taken by open minds including gut instincts inside” during periods of change.
It is important for organizations to believe that success is a factor of the willingness to take “educated risks”. This notion of “educated risks” is predicated on the principal that there is no certainty in an uncertain world but there is certainty that “educated risks” will generally lead to success.
That is, after an open mind has performed a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of any proposed change, an open mind should either get a comfortable feeling inside or else choose to decline.
That instinct to either move forward with the change or to choose to decline will tend to be accurate 90% of the time.
In simple English, organizations should not focus on the 10% of times an idea may fail but rather the 90% of times it will tend to create added value to the bottom line because focusing on successes as opposed to failures fosters an environment of creativity and the drive to succeed.
