Change Management Fundamental Basics “Gangnam THE ROCK Style” – Part 54
Christiano will learn over time that during periods of change, organizations should promote the belief that Hyperboles best illustrate the need for good faith to take the lead as opposed to manipulating the laws to commit dirty deeds with the simple application of the principal of respect amongst colleagues.
In my opinion, organizations need to embrace the notion that during periods of change it is critical to insure that policies and procedures are in place to identify individuals contaminated with “Organized Legalized Chaos” as a by product of significant change.
It is important for organizations to acknowledge that during periods of change, the greatest risk to successful change is posed by contamination of the mass with “Organized Legalized Chaos” as opposed to “Organized Good Faith Harmony”.
In this New World Order where there are persistent changes, be it through mergers and acquisitions or restructurings and reorganizations, the only constant which is assured over time is that of change. In order to be able to compete in this New World Order, there is one of two generic techniques.
The first technique which I refer to as “Organized Legalized Chaos” is predicated on the notion that one must protect one’s personal, financial and political interests at all costs such that there are no holds barred other than respecting legal guidelines whose sole purpose is to protect ones behind.
Under such an approach everyone focuses on twisting and turning any and all facts and circumstances in ones favour such that a legalized form of operation evolves whereby everyone is focused, behind the scenes, on circumventing laws in order to tarnish one’s competition with superficial flaws.
In simple English, under an approach of “Organized Legalized Chaos”, an organization is transformed into a perpetual court whereby the objective is to persistently support one’s case by tarnishing the competition’s face.
The greatest risk posed by such a technique is that it infests an entire organization with “Organized Legalized Chaos” whereby everybody starts looking for ways to circumvent the laws to get ahead including setting up one’s competition for failure in the end.
As is evident from my Hyperbole above, this type of approach is destructive, counterproductive and chaotic by its nature. For the record, Hyperbole is defined as the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. Hyperboles may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create strong impressions but they are not meant to be taken literally.
Now I would like to focus on the second technique which I refer to as “Organized Good Faith Harmony” which is predicated on the notion that if one operates with strong values, morals, principals and ethics, the laws function as a guideline to respect as the respect of one’s colleagues takes the lead as opposed to manipulating the laws to commit dirty deeds.
In summary, I refer to “Change Management Gangnam THE ROCK Style” as the belief that Hyperboles best illustrate the need for good faith to take the lead as opposed to manipulating the laws to commit dirty deeds with the simple application of the principal of respect amongst colleagues.
