Project Description

Change Management Fundamental Basics “Gangnam THE ROCK Style” – Part 13

Christiano will learn over time that it is always best to adopt a “Keep It Simple and Sweet (KISS)” philosophy during periods of change as over thinking, over analyzing and over killing leads to technocratic solutions as opposed to pragmatic resolutions.

In my opinion, many organizations underestimate the value added by a “Keep It Simple and Sweet (KISS)” philosophy during periods of change.

It is important for organizations to embrace the notion that simplifying the complicated adds exponential value while complicating the simple dilutes any incremental value.

That is, creating a perfect model that only the creators understand is inefficient, ineffective and cumbersome on end users who generally prefer simplicity on the fly.

Therefore, it is always best to create models using the “80/ 20” rule of thumb whereby the model covers the material 80% of items which I refer to as the “critical rocks” while the 20% of “pretty pebbles” are left behind.

Generally, over thinking, over analyzing, and over killing leads to technocratic solutions as opposed to pragmatic resolutions. However, in a world where cost versus benefit is often a factor of time, perfection tends to leave the technocrat behind.

Therefore, if one looks for simplicity in the complex, one will find it whereas if one looks for complexity in the simple, one will have to create it.

In summary, I refer to “Change Management Gangnam THE ROCK Style” as the belief that over thinking, over analyzing and over killing leads to technocratic solutions as opposed to pragmatic resolutions.
